One AI file token processes one file. All AI tools share the same monthly file allowance, and a batch uses one token for each successfully processed file. Failed files do not count. Converter, compressor, PDF tools and Markdown have unlimited operations. All tools share file storage and keep their upload, retention and rate limits. The AI file allowance resets on the first day of each month at 00:00 UTC, without rollover or automatic overage charges.

What do I download?

One ZIP containing a Markdown file for each successfully read document and a manifest listing every source status. The preview can be shortened; downloads contain all extracted text. The Pro API uses the same workflow and output.

Which files work?

Digital PDFs with selectable text, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, Markdown, JSON and UTF-8 text or code files. Images, scans, audio, video and unsupported binary formats are reported as unreadable. Embedded pictures, document layout and formatting may not carry over.

Does this summarize or rewrite my files?

No. The export preserves extracted source text. It does not merge facts, deduplicate records, generate embeddings or create a dataset.

Can another AI read the whole download?

Markdown is portable text, but each destination has its own file and context limits. Exporting a .md file does not remove those limits. You may need to split large documents in the destination tool.

Are my files safe?

Files are transferred over HTTPS and deleted automatically after the retention period for your plan.

Do I need to create an account?

Yes. Files to Markdown requires a free account for shared file storage and job history. It extracts text without a model and uses no AI tokens.
